_I_n_t_e_r_l_o_c_k_i_n_g _D_i_r_e_c_t_o_r_a_t_e_s _A_m_o_n_g _M_a_j_o_r _C_a_n_a_d_i_a_n _F_i_r_m_s

_D_e_s_c_r_i_p_t_i_o_n:

     The 'Ornstein' data frame has 248 rows and 4 columns. The
     observations are the 248 largest Canadian firms with publicly
     available information in the mid-1970s. The names of the firms
     were not available.

_U_s_a_g_e:

     data(Ornstein)

_F_o_r_m_a_t:

     This data frame contains the following columns:

     _a_s_s_e_t_s Assets in millions of dollars.

     _s_e_c_t_o_r Industrial sector. A factor with levels: 'AGR',
          agriculture, food, light industry; 'BNK', banking;  'CON',
          construction;  'FIN', other financial; 'HLD', holding
          companies;  'MAN', heavy manufacturing;  'MER',
          merchandizing; 'MIN', mining, metals, etc.; 'TRN', transport;
          'WOD', wood and paper.

     _n_a_t_i_o_n Nation of control. A factor with levels: 'CAN', Canada;
          'OTH', other foreign; 'UK', Britain; 'US', United States.

     _i_n_t_e_r_l_o_c_k_s Number of interlocking director and executive positions
          shared with other major firms.
