This document outlines notes regarding the OS/2 version of the
FrontDoor package as well as some of the differences between the DOS
and OS/2 versions of the FrontDoor package.

>>> YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN THE OS/2 VERSION IN REGISTERED MODE
>>> UNTIL YOU HAVE OBTAINED AN UPDATE TO YOUR CURRENT FRONTDOOR
>>> SHAREWARE REGISTRATION.

(*) All programs in the OS/2 version of the FrontDoor package are
    native 32-bit OS/2 applications.

(*) All programs in the OS/2 version of the FrontDoor package are
pure text-mode (VIO) applications; they do not require WPS nor
PM to be installed or used.

(*) No additional drivers, such as a FOSSIL driver, are required to
run the OS/2 version of the FrontDoor Mailer (FD2). It is,
however, recommended that the SIO/VSIO package by Ray Gwinn is
used in place of the standard OS/2 COM drivers (COM/VCOM).

(*) Many of the limits (maximum number of active NetMail messages in
the System NetMail Folder, maximum number of Folders, etc) in the
DOS version of the FrontDoor package have been completely removed
or otherwise increased in the OS/2 version.

(*) The OS/2 version of the FrontDoor package has not been tested on
versions below Warp 3.0 of the OS/2 operating system. Use of the
OS/2 version on OS/2 1.x and 2.x may be possible but is not
supported, nor recommended by Definite Solutions.

(*) It is possible to share the configuration files between a DOS
and OS/2 installation. It is, however, required that you have
license information suitable for running both versions since
SETUP.FD (the primary configuration file) is used for both
    versions.

(*) It should be noted that the OS/2 version of the FrontDoor mailer
(FD) does not utilize the "errorlevel interface" to support
external services such as external fax receivers, BBS software,
etc. Instead, the mailer executes batch files (.CMD) and resumes
operation when the operating system returns control to it.

Please refer to the documentation and the latest FDFAQ (Frequently
Asked Questions) document - both of which are available on our web
site - for additional information about differences and version
specific details.
